I have been reading and studying some literature about Oracle and I found and interesting document at Oracle Storage Guy's blog about EMC Midsize Solutions for Oracle.

The document EMC Celerra NS Series Multi-Protocol Storage System is an up-to-date document: September, 2008 and I have found some interesting points:

The purpose of the EMC Midsize Solutions for Oracle is described on the website as:

"EMC Midsize Solutions for Oracle give you validated solutions for physical and virtualized Oracle environments. With Midsize Solutions for Oracle, you can meet your service-level requirements for Oracle 10g or Oracle 11g in Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and single-instance environments.

Benefit from powerful, high-availability IP storage in your Oracle environments with EMC solutions that deliver convenient, integrated models and flexible gateway configurations. You'll streamline and simplify management of your production environments as well as tier-two environments such as test and development."

1) Deduplication - a new device !!!

2) Celerra Snap"Are you"Sure for EMC backups. How about performance?  

3) Replication - Another ...  new device !!!

4) Celerra NS Series is connected on FC switches? hey, where is the CLARiiON ? (Not a native and true Multiprotocol)

5) ASM Clones. How to "restamp" an ASM disk group name to be used on the same host or in a different host? (without requiring additional storage space) and of course supported by Oracle.

LEVERAGING NETAPP DATA ONTAP 7G FOR ORACLE DATABASE BACKUP, RECOVERY, AND CLONE MANAGEMENT
Backup, recovery, and cloning are all complicated tasks that are synonymous with Oracle® database management. NetApp® SnapManager® 2.2 for Oracle simplifies and automates these complex operations by leveraging NetApp Snapshot™, SnapRestore®, and FlexClone® technologies to provide fast, space-efficient, disk-based backups; rapid, granular restore and recovery; and quick, space-efficient cloning of Oracle databases. This document details the best practices for deploying and using SnapManager 2.2 for Oracle.

The following new sections were added among other minor changes:
