Comments

IT environments is in its critical stage that we effectively manage and optimize our infrastructure – particularly in the storage domain .Agents are not very necessary to do this job.

Thanks Sto Rage. The focus here was on storage management. Where the products role is to provide passive management tools which are helping you understand, optimize, audit and plan for your storage environment. The deployment of agents can lead to more problems than benefits gained. Agents should be a means of last resort and for most storage resource management they are completely unnecessary.

Funny you bring up this topic. Just noticed that the new versions of your OSSV (Open Systems SnapVault) product now comes with a NetApp agent that needs to be installed else your Protection Manager software cannot backup that client. How weird is that? Go talk to that product group and drive some sense into them.
-Sto Rage (enraged by all the storage vendors who insist they know what is best for their customers)
