What’s a blweet? Well it’s a short blog post that’s longer than a tweet of course! According to a basic Google / Bing search, I may actually be coining the term, so you read it here first.
A key SaaS offering grows up
Internet juggernaut Google certainly had a busy day today. First was the announcement that Gmail exited perpetual beta after only 5 short years. Given the popularity of that SaaS collaborative messaging application, that would be newsworthy in and of itself.
Confirmation that the browser is an OS
Then the bombshell from Google that Chrome is becoming a full-fledged web browsing OS for netbook-class devices! Yes, this is separate from Android. Windows 7, Snow Leopard, Ubuntu and other distro’s have kept OS watchers busy lately, but with this announcement the OS wars are sure to escalate to unprecedented levels now.
Web 2 dot oh grows into Cloud
Chargeback is a key criteria for true Cloud deployments, either internal, external or hybrid. While many ad-sponsored web sites such as Facebook use highly scalable cloud-like infrastructures, I like to emphasize chargeback as a litmus test for enterprises considering Cloud deployments and/or subscriptions.
For example, Google Apps is signaling a shift in strategy away from ad support and towards chargeback with SLA’s via their recent landing page redesign. This is a healthy sign for the Enterprise Cloud market.
Are we still “Blweeting”?
In the interests of keeping this blog short (yes I know, it’s already too late for that :) I’ll end now by saying I plan to spend a lot more time blogging on Cloud this summer / fall. Google Apps’ strategic shift here is a “cathartic catalyst” for introducing NetApp’s own considerable Cloud market presence – and over all Cloud Strategy.
But first things first. My next post will focus on why you need a Cloud Czar!

So you'll be clogging and cleeting then. (That's cloud blogging and cloud tweeting.)

Now that DataDomain gone and billions of cash left, will NetApp grab Isilon and 3par for teaching EMC a lesson?
Will be interesting to hear :)

Hi @Thirutumulli,
Stay tuned. As alway, we'll comment on any future M&A plans *after* we announce them - not before :)
