Want some insider info? A few weeks ago, storage insiders got to see and comment on SNIA’s proposed Cloud Data Management Interface (CDMI) standard. Tomorrow morning at SNW USA in Phoenix, the storage public gets to witness the future of Cloud Storage firsthand.
SNW Cloud Agenda
In addition to my own talk Monday afternoon @ 1:55pm on Data Management & Storage Strategies for the Cloud, there are three solid afternoons of Cloud Storage content. Monday & Tuesday afternoons also feature sessions by two customers as well as vendors F5 & IBM.
Finally, the SNW Cloud Summit will be held Wednesday afternoon from 2:10pm to 5:15pm. Various cloud Analysts, Customers, Vendors and SNIA reps will deliver keynotes and be speaking at panels throughout the afternoon.

CSI & CDMI’s coming out-party
The SNIA Cloud Technical Working Group has made excellent and rapid progress over the past 6 months on developing:
- a comprehensive object interface for managing Cloud Storage Delivery Services, as well as
- a framework for management of more conventional storage (NAS, SAN, etc…) infrastructure in support of SOI’s to deliver Infrastructure, Platform and Software Cloud services.
Those of us on the newly announced SNIA Cloud Storage Initiative (CSI) look forward to seeing you at the SNIA booth in the exhibit area. We’d be happy to answer your questions and discuss current and future use cases for Cloud Storage!
P.S. For those of your reading in Europe, I will be at SNW Frankfurt Oct 27 & 28 to discuss Cloud Storage in person as well.
