Awesome comment. yes, I agree cloud is something that both is with us and is also a new 'force'. heck - if we go back to the mainframe days, everything was effectively cloud.

If I look at the storage infrastructure for the cloud, it is going to be object-based not file based. The sheer magnitude in terms of numbers of files and the capacity they will demand requires something more flexible. Just posted a similar thought over on Dave's blog and just found your post too. The economic downturn has certainly made me look at how to handle doing more with less. The most disruptive technology I'm seeing coming in the market is object-based storage. I saw that NTAP has something planned for 2010 and I can't wait to learn more and see how it fits with what we've got on the floor.
