With the 40Gb/s and 100Gb/s Ethernet standard (IEEE P802.3ba) scheduled to be ratified less than a year from now (in June 2010), the Ethernet Alliance is turning its attention to deployment of the technology. It plans to host a one day Technology Exploration Forum “to discuss the future networking needs for the adoption and deployment of the 40 Gigabit and 100 Gigabit Ethernet Family” on September 15 in Santa Clara, CA – the day before their annual members’ meeting. Mark your calendar; it should be an interesting session.
The Ethernet Alliance is reaching out beyond member companies to ensure a wide-ranging and interesting agenda. If you are a technologist or an IT or Network Architect, I’d encourage you to submit an abstract, and get involved in the discussion. But you’ll need to hurry … the deadline for submissions is July 21.
And if you’re interested in what else is going on with the Ethernet Alliance, check out the latest edition of their excellent newsletter.
