Open Systems SnapVault 2.6: Backup & Recovery of VMware VI3 Virtual Machines

Open Systems SnapVault (OSSV) provides the advantages of NetApp SnapVault advanced backup and recovery technology to heterogeneous storage environments.

OSSV enables automated backups, rapid snapshots, low bandwidth utilization and reduced storage requirements making it particularly useful for remote office environments as well as for environments where the primary data resides on non-NetApp gear for customers would like to leverage Netapp's efficient snapshot and restore functionality for backup and restore of their data.

We've recently released a new OSSV version (2.6) specific to ESX server 3.x that allows for the automated backup and restore of Virtual Machines. These Virtual machines can reside on NetApp as well as on non-NetApp storage devices.

Furthermore, OSSV integrates with NetApp's Protection Manager making backup and restore an intuitive process. In fact, Protection Manager integrates not only with OSSV but also with NetApp's SnapMirror, and SnapVault  products.

Here's a demo  showing the ease within which Virtual Machine backups and restores can be completed using a combination of OSSV 2.6 and Protection Manager.
