During Tough Times, Character is not Defined....it is Revealed

Iceberg Posted by Brian Gracely - Manager, Virtualization Architecture and Marketing

There is an old saying amongst great leaders, "During difficult times, character is not defined, character is revealed".  Without a doubt, we are living in difficult times around the world. And during these difficult times, we often find out what individuals are made of based on their actions vs. their words.  Will they stand by you in difficult times, telling you the truth and helping you as a friend or a partner?  Or will they tell you whatever you might want to hear one minute, and then completely change their mind the next minute to benefit themselves and leave you confused or alone?  Are they creating innovation, or unnovation?

A long time ago, my mother taught me that if I didn't have anything nice to say, not to say anything at all.  I'll stick to those lessons that mom taught me.  I'll let the readers decide if good is bad, or bad is good.

No matter what happens in the next couple of months, you are all making long term decisions that will effect the future of YOUR business.  Be sure that you have friends and partners that you trust both in good times and in difficult times.  Their words today will reveal a lot about your relationships in the coming months and years.
